Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Masjidly Volunteers (“we,” “the App”) connects people who want to volunteer with masjids that need help. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.

1. What we collect

  • Your volunteer profile. Your name, email, phone number (optional), photo (optional) and bio. You enter these yourself.
  • Applications. When you apply to a role, we store your answers (availability, experience, why you want to help) along with a copy of your profile, and the status of the application.
  • Volunteering records. If a masjid accepts you, it keeps you on its roster, along with the shifts you sign up for, hours served and, where the masjid records it, the expiry date of your Vulnerable Sector Check. We never store the check itself.
  • Notifications. If you turn on notifications, your device gives us a push address so we can tell you when an application moves forward or a shift is coming up.
  • Cookies. Functional cookies remember your profile, your chosen masjid and, for masjid admins, their signed-in session. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

2. Who sees it

Your application and profile are shared only with the masjid you apply to — its admins use them to review your application and contact you. Each masjid sees only the applications sent to it. We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything other than running the App.

3. Deleting your data

You can delete your profile at any time from the Profile tab (“Delete my profile and data”). This permanently erases your profile, photo, every application you've sent, and your place on each masjid's roster. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.

4. Retention

We keep your data while your profile exists. A masjid may remove your application or roster entry at any time. Cookies expire after a year or when you clear them.

5. Children

Volunteers under 16 should have a parent or guardian's permission before creating a profile. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

6. Security

Data is stored on servers in North America and sent over encrypted connections. Masjid admin passcodes are stored only as secure hashes.

7. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the App changes; the date above shows the latest revision. Questions or requests: masjidlyapp@gmail.com.
